This is Cumberland County Schools with your 'Need to Know' Update on June 1, 2025. Here’s what families need to know this week:
Free Summer Meals for Kids
The summer break is here and it’s time to think about keeping our children healthy while school is out. Cumberland County Schools’ Child Nutrition Services provides free meals to children during the summer. Meals will be served at various locations across the county from Monday through Thursday, starting tomorrow, June 2 through Thursday, July 31. And, it's on a first come first serve basis. Anyone aged 18 or younger may receive a free meal. There are no income requirements or registration but, the child must be present and meals must be consumed at the site location. For more information and meal locations, visit the CCS website or call 910-678-2502.
Pomp & Circumstance 2025
It's graduation season in the school district! From Tuesday, June 3 through Thursday, June 5, approximately 3,500 seniors from 14 CCS high schools will be marching across the stage to receive their diploma in the Crown Coliseum. To see special accolades, venue requirements, live-stream links and more visit the CCS Graduation Website.
New Superintendent Announced
As you may know, our superintendent, Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., is retiring at the end of this month. We are grateful for his years of dedicated service and wish him all the best in this next chapter of his life. The Board of Education recently announced that Dr. Eric Bracy will serve as his successor. Dr. Bracy is a long-time educator who brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership that will help guide our district into the future. To learn more about him, visit Cumberland County Schools' Website.
