This week the students at LRES are learning the joy of giving.  The Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe is a program designed for children to shop on their own at school, in a safe, non-commercial environment.  They can learn to budget their money and spend wisely, while also experience the “Joy Of Giving.”

        
Superintendent Search Public Forum

The Cumberland County Board of Education is seeking direct
input from interested members of the community to assist it in defining the
qualities and characteristics of the next superintendent of the Cumberland County
Schools.
The Board of Education is hosting a public forum to hear input and wants to
encourage community members to speak at the public forum, scheduled for
Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the
Educational Resource Center, located at 396 Elementary Drive, Fayetteville, NC
28301.
In addition to the forum, the Board would like to remind parents and other
community members to participate in a short community survey that can be
accessed and completed online by clicking the survey link on the CCS’ webpage.

All surveys must be completed by December 4 with results to be compiled and
presented by the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) at the
regular School Board meeting on December 12.

The Cumberland County Board of Education has hired the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) to help facilitate its search for the next superintendent of the Cumberland County Schools (CCS). The Board wants direct input from members of the community to help shape the search process and to assist in defining the qualities and characteristics desired in the next CCS’ superintendent.
Parents and community members can participate in a short survey below. Please note that the surveys must be completed in a single online session, as partial responses cannot be saved for later completion. Also, the survey may only be completed one time per IP address.
For those without personal access to the internet, the Cumberland County Library System has computers with internet access available for public use. Paper copies of the survey are also available for completion and may be found in the Cumberland County Schools’ Central Services’ building and at individual schools.
​Spanish​ language versions are available online and in paper form.
All surveys must be completed by December 4, 2017. The results will be compiled, summarized, and presented by the NCSBA at the Dec. 12 School Board meeting.

Our annual K-2 dance this past Friday, October 6th was a wonderful success. The students still had an amazing amount of energy to burn off even after a full day of classroom activities. Over two-hundred students attended.

Now is “a good time to remind all of us of the need to remember that Respect, Dignity, Compassion, and Humility are four essential ingredients in the creation and maintenance of a safe and productive school environment.” We are encouraged “to cultivate caring, kindness, and compassion within our schools and community through our youth by teaching them to make a difference by completing random acts of kindness. Students and staff at every school are challenged to complete at least 5,000 acts of kindness throughout October.   #GobekindCCS
